BURROW
A new website for the volunteer-run heart of a rural Devon village.
CONTEXT
The Burrow is a not-for-profit community shop, café, and post office in Exbourne, built from scratch by local residents after the village lost its only shop in 2001. It is volunteer-run, community-owned, and quite literally underground. One of the most genuinely special organisations I have worked with.

CHALLENGE
- Covering shop, café, post office, and community events without confusing visitors
- Simple enough for any volunteer to update without training
- Warm and characterful, not corporate, not generic

- Clear structure that gets visitors to what they need fast
- CMS set up so opening times, menus, and events can be updated in minutes

IMPACT
Before the new site, keeping the Burrow's online presence updated was a burden rather than a help. Events went unpromoted. Opening times were sometimes out of date. The site did not reflect the quality of what was happening inside. Now the team manages it themselves. Events go up the same day they are confirmed. Opening times are accurate. And the site finally reflects what the Burrow actually is: something worth going out of your way for.
